Freight Price Rise

As you are no doubt aware, the price of crude oil has risen dramatically in the past few months as a result of instability in the Middle East and also with increasing demand from China.

Here at Pro-Dec, we have held our Freight Charges steady for more than 2 years. During this time, we have endured an average 31% prices increase from the various freight companies we use. Unfortunately we must now pass this on. From May 1, our Freight Charges will be $8.00 (+GST) for deliveries in the Sydney metro area and $12.00 (+GST) for deliveries to the rest of Australia.

Our freight charges are "flat rate" - irrespective of the size of the order. They are designed to cover our minimum cost to get a small parcel around Australia (such as airbag or overnight satchel service). For larger shipments, we figure there is enough margin in our product prices to afford the extra freight charges. This means the bigger your order is, the more you spread out the freight charge.

We are often asked why we don't offer shipping for free? Think of it this way..... if we built the freight cost into our least expensive product, anyone who placed an order for more than 1 of this product, would be paying more than their share of freight. It is conceivable they would end up paying 10-20 times the actual freight cost. By doing it this way, every customer pays freight just once, but gets the best possible price for the products they order.

New Discount Structure

Previously, our discount structure has been based on the total number of each 'product' ordered. While it allowed different colours to be counted together to reach the quantity break, it did not offer flexibility to customers wanting to order "some of this and a few of that". From May 1, this has changed!

Discounts are now determined simply by the total amount of the order. If the Product Value of your order is $120.00 or more, you get a blanket 15% Discount. If the Product Value of your order is $500 or more, you get a blanket 20% Discount. You will then need to add the freight charge (if applicable) and 10% GST.

We have done extensive computer modelling of the effects of these changes and determined that a significant majority of customers will be better off. However, ALL customers can benefit significantly because of the much greater flexibility to qualify for a discount.

This Discount applies to ALL our products, including Electroplated Snap-Caps, as well as packs of 250 and 500 of any of the caps and for telephone, fax or e-mail sales, as well as counter sales (for customers lucky enough to be near Parramatta!

Product Price Changes

In order to facilitate these changes to the discount structure, we have made some changes to the price of Electroplated Snap-Caps (which previously had no quantity discounts). Because of the way Electroplated Snap-Caps are manufactured, there is no cost benefit from manuafcturing larger quantities. Nevertheless, we believe ordering Electroplated Snap-Caps should contribute to qualifying for a discount on any other products you order at the same time.

Once the discount has been applied however, the prices compare more-than-favourably with the old prices - and you still have the flexibility ordering other products as well.
